So I went to the peace march in DC a couple of weeks back, and it was BLOODY AMAZING. Somebody had a photo pool on Flickr,
here, and I decided to make a few icons. All photos, signs, & witty sayings belong to someone else.
Forty-nine:
[35] peace march
[6] random politics/John Lennon lyrics/Neil Young lyrics
[6] from Rosie's quote booklet
[2] "Coexist" -- request
Teasers:
( This is what democracy looks like )Notes:
[1] Someone had a huge box full of shoes, each with the name, age, and cause of death of an Iraqi child attached to it. This is a pair of those shoes.
[22]&[23] Same sort of idea, only it was a pair of boots owned by a US soldier prior to his death.
[29] This is a reference to the White Roses, I believe, an anti-war group in Germany in the 1930's. Very powerful statement.
[34]&[35] Saw these on signs, but they wouldn't make legible icons, so I tried to reproduce them as faithfully as I could.
[36] Lyrics by John Lennon.
[38] Lyrics by Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young.
